What I Love about Ray: The Father Daughter Dance

Tonight was the 2011 Father Daughter Dance at Mother Seton School. I place the year because Ray has been to a few of these dances- not only with Elizabeth, but Becca too.

He took Liz out shopping and they bought a new dress. He loves to takes his girls clothes shopping and they love going out with Daddy.
Last year he took Liz out to dinner before the dance.

It's a sacrifice because Ray doesn't like to be in awkward situations and let's face it, standing around with other dads making small talk while the girls are off dancing can be pretty awkward ~ especially for 3 hours! Each year it gets a little easier I think.

One day Ray is going to be dancing with his little girl on her wedding day (if she doesn't become a nun.) That is going to be a wonderful and heart breaking day for both of us. And who knows... maybe one day he will be able to encourage his future son-in-law (if she doesn't become a nun) on the importance of going to every Father Daughter Dance and sacrificing through the awkward evenings because one day they will be gone.

I love that Ray knows that now and won't have that regret later. It's something I treasure and I know Bec and Liz will too.
